Teeth Whitening

Procedure

Everyone loves a bright, white smile. Today there are a variety of products and procedures available to help you improve the color of your teeth. Some whitening procedures are done in our office with one visit. Other whitening agents can even be purchased over-the-counter. However, over-the-counter whitening agents will not whiten your teeth as quickly or as effectively as those delivered by a dentist.

In the emerging technologies of cosmetic dentistry, teeth whitening remains the most popular procedure. Appreciated by all, teeth whitening treatments are available for every budget, can fit into any schedule and can be adjusted to meet your expectations.

Teeth whitening is typically a one-hour bleaching session at our dental office, or in-home bleaching kits.

Teeth whitening procedures work on for all people with healthy teeth. Virtually everyone who opts for this cosmetic procedure will see moderate to substantial improvement in the brightness and whiteness of their smile. Teeth whitening is not a permanent solution and requires maintenance or “touch-ups” for a maintained effect.

According to the FDA, “tooth bleaching” is permitted to be used only when the teeth can be whitened beyond their natural color. This applies strictly to products that contain bleach ? typically hydrogen peroxide or carbamide peroxide. “Tooth whitening,” on the other hand, refers to restoring a tooth’s surface color by removing dirt and debris. So any product that cleans (like a toothpaste) is considered a whitener.
